Ghosts

Ghosts

One day they will beat the last war drum

And we will hear the rattle the hum and the clatter of the earth as it shatters

Everyone has a grave waiting out there for them

So why cause bloodshed, why not stem the flow

Stop the bleeding, the bloodshed show

Yes the rich line their pockets

And blood for oil ,powers our mains sockets

But when the rich wage war it’s the poor who die

No god can stand in…

Soldier...Do you stand and take it or do you run?

Tell me soldier which one are you?

Do you stand and take it... or do you run,

Do you scream or do you cry,

Do watch everyone you know die or do you fight,

So tell me soldier which one are you?

Cry run and hide and die

Or do you stand and take it scream and fight

Tell me soldier when you are not dying for imaginary honor what are you doing?

Sitting around waiting for your next battle high, practicing your ear…

Our Veterans, More Than Heroes

In war, there are lives risked and lives taken

Men and women giving their best to defend what they love

They defend their country

Their honor

Their people

Some call them soldiers

Others call them heroes

Our veterans have risked their lives for us

They have lived through hell and fought with honor

Many have…

Modern Day Desert Storm

Silence, be illusive

In a modern desert storm

Not wind, nor sand

But a thousand hand

On the trigger of

One gun

Silence, slip onto

A sacred battle ground

But resistance she will meet

From a strong, steady beat

Of life’s echo in

His ears

Silence, she is devious

To battlefields she comes to play

And one little wish for peace of mind

Silence may come, but silence may find

The tags which rest round

His…

U.S. Military Code of Conduct

I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.

I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender the members of my command while they still have the means to resist.

If I am captured, I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape…

A "thank you" to my Brother!

I was out to eat with my family for my brother's going away party and while we took a restroom break, a little girl no more than 7 or 8 years old wrote this on a napkin and set it at my seat. I cried almost immediately and so did my brother. He was so touched, he took his American flag from his uniform and handed it to the young girl, her mom then began to cry and I wept.

This little girl had moved me in a way I never thought possible. Thank you and Bless her heart…

My Life

My back is stiff when I wake up in the morning. My knees protest those first movements in the morning. I feel old.

I start my day washing back the drug cocktail the Army has me on.

Doxycycline for Malaria. Adderall for ADHD. Zoloft for combat stress. Prazosin for nightmares.

In years of service my body has taken a decade’s worth of wear and tear. For many, this would be a nightmare. For me, I wouldn’t…

For That Soldier On His Way

For that soldier on his way...

I pray to thee, please watch his heart

No harm entered, around, or found

Please place over him your own protectoral mound

And the way left and returned, the same be

I pray to thee, please watch his hands

Not idle, worn or tattered

Please give him strength that…

Only The Most Capable Apply

“First, strap on around 100lbs of additional equipment, thereby making you slow, cumbersome, and constantly uncomfortable.  Next, remove a regular meal schedule, which makes you weak.   Finally, only sleep for a couple hours at a time, usually in your gear and when it’s too hot to move, as many Infantry units operate mainly at night.   All of this reaches a crescendo when it’s combined with the ever present reminder that any mistake you make can cost your peers life and…
